Past President, Marion Beckerink introduced our District Governor, Aaron Carlson.  He is a member of the Rotary Club of Lockport.  He is pastor of University United Methodist Church in Syracuse, NY.  He has served as club president and Rotary Foundation chair and membership chair for his club.  At the district level he served as an Assistant Area Governor and Learning Chair. DG Carlson shared that he is from Dallas, Texas and has been in New York for 14 years.  When he arrived in NY, he was encouraged to join Rotary to get to know people and make connections.

DG Carlson began his comments by saying this is a unique Rotary year. After he was elected DG, he was moved by his denomination to Syracuse, a different Rotary district.    He agreed to say on as DG and remain in his Lockport Club for the remainder of his term.  He went on the say that this year there is no “theme” but rather a Presidential Message which encompasses the Rotary Action Plan, which is not sexy.  The phrase “Rotary Unites for Good” has been utilized.  The Action Plan included Increasing Rotary’s impact and Expanding Rotary’s Reach.  DG Carlson as for input from our club on theses facets of the plan.  Members from our club shared things like partnering with other clubs, doing hybrid meetings, changing venues, corporate memberships, once a month social events, all things we do. He referred to the Jamestown Club as a flagship club and was excited to share some of our implementations with other clubs.

President Michelle closed our meeting with a reminder of the four way test and remembering “Rotary Unites for Good.”
