Join the Rotary Club of Jamestown at our 1st Fire & Ice Ball Fundraiser on Saturday, February 1st 6pm at the Chautauqua Suites in Mayville, New York.

For the last 28 years our club has held a Charity Auction as our major fundraising event.  After many years of success and generous donations from club members and community business owners, it was time to try something new and fresh.  During the set up for last year's auction, we discovered that the donation from Sue Abdella, wife of former Rotarian Jim (Abdella),  was a valuable bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII fine cognac champagne, valued at $2,800.  At the advice of our trusted friend & auctioneer Chuck Ludwig, and with the permission of Sue, we pulled the cognac from the Auction to be held for a special fundraising opportunity.  Many ideas were tossed around but the best - we hope - sprang forth the the idea of FIRE!

And what goes with fire...well when you are talking about fundraising, often you find the Fire & Ice theme.  And where does a woman's mind go when you talk about Ice?  Yep, DIAMONDS.  So what happens when you have eight women planning this event?  Yep, you get a lot of diamonds!!!

Currently we are selling raffle tickets $10 each or 3 for $25, 1st Place Prize - the $2800 value Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, 2nd Place Prize - $200 Cash, 3rd Place Prize - $180 value Remy Martin XO Special cognac.  The winning raffle ticket will be drawn the night of the event, but the winner need not be present.  Tickets can be purchased from any Rotarian.

At the Ball, we will be holding a special fundraising event based around the Ice theme.  Gaylene Lindell, of Gaylene's Jewelery has graciously donated a pair of diamond stud earrings, tw 1/2 carat.  An anonymous donor has also donated 150 pairs of cubic zirconia stud earrings.  For $20, one may purchase a number 1 - 151.  All pairs of earrings will be assigned a number with only Gaylene knowing the number of the real pair.  When all numbers have been purchased, or by 9pm, whichever is later, it will be revealed who has indeed won the real pair of diamond earrings.  We are holding this drawing at the event only to add excitement and generate anticiaption which should be a lot of fun too!  Please be sure to thank Gaylene when you see her or visit her store, because without her support, this one-of-a-kind event, couldn't happen!

As a nod to our past, we will also have a small Silent Auction Table with a few items to bid on; but these items are large in value!  For example, we have a 1 week stay (October 11-18, 204) in Hilton Head, a Vera Bradley bag and a Southern Tier Brewing basket to name a few.

And if that isn't enough fun to get you out there, we will have one of Jamestown's favorite photographers, Rob Sigler (Click Photo Studios) taking your Red Carpet poses, and the Suites will be offering a specialty cocktail that evening where part of the proceeds from that one drink come back to the club.

Which brings us to the real reason we do these fundraisers.  Yes it is great to get dressed up and have fun with our friends and fellow Rotarians.  But the money we raise this evening goes back out to our projects.  It goes to our water wells in Haiti, our chalkboards in Nepal, our shelterboxes in the Phillipines, our Veterans Park in Jamestown, our emergency room at WCA, our scholarships at JCC....

So come out on February 1st and have a great night out and help us help support our community!
