Today's Chairman: Vice-President Kevin Sixbey

Pledge, Canadian National Anthem, Star Spangled
Banner & Four Way Test:  Kevin Sixbey

Invocation:  Kathy Burch – “Giving our Own Thanks”

Visiting Rotarians and Guests:  Hadley Weinberg, David Niles (RTPI), Emma Anderson, and Maddie DeJoy.

Rotary Why: Randy Sweeney – not a lot different from other members.  Joined Rotary in 1999 after visiting our club and others in the community. Looking for relationships with people I did not know.  Did not expect but made a lot of friends in addition to the relationships.  This made Rotary all the better.  Thank you to everyone in this club for what they do in the community.  For new members, look around and make new friends as well!

Slapshot 2021: Chris Anderson introduced Emma Anderson and Maddie DeJoy who attended this year’s Slapshot virtually.  Maddie, who represented Jamestown High School, shared that Slapshot enabled her to learn more communications skills and hone her critical thinking skills.  Maddie met a lot of great people.  Emma, who represented Southwestern High School, learned about a growth mindset and being able to change your thinking.  This is something in particular that has resonated with her from the experience.  Both Maddie and Emma met many wonderful people from the country and from Canada in particular.  Both were very thankful for the opportunity and appreciated the sponsorships from the Rotary Club of Jamestown.  Great job girls!

Announcements:

Kevin – we are looking for someone to help coordinate and lead the Club Services Committee.  Norm and his team are hanging up their cleats.  We thank them for their many years of generous commitment!

Rotary Presidents Dinner will be tonight, June 28, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Jamestown.  See you all there!

50/50 Drawing: Maddie DeJoy drew, well, Maddie DeJoy’s ticket!  Special thanks to Russ Diethrick for donating his tickets to the girls.

Sergeant at Arms: the esteemed Doug Conroe – Vicky had to leave early; Becky Robbins in the paper for Cents for St. Susan’s; Tory Irgang – Ellington Fire Dept Fund; Lisa Goodell – Tree City planting; Ruth Lundin's Table – got question wrong; Phil Cala’s Table – got question wrong.

Happy Bucks:

Phil Cala - threw in a $50 since he had not been to a meeting in a long time!  Phil related a story about Pelicans on Chautauqua Lake. True story!   https://www.post-journal.com/life/nature/2014/04/white-pelicans-true-snowbirds/

Tory Irgang - happy to have Phil back and Juneteenth event!

Norm Merrill – for himself and Bill Larson, happy to be here!

Russ Diethrick – happy for baseball and Jamestown ultimate baseball promoter!

Sue Jones – Vicky McGraw thankful for all she does!  And, for Cents for St Susan’s, which Sue originally organized at the BPU!
Stories
District Governor Anne Bermingham
Kevin Sixbey introduced Anne Bermingham to our club.  Anne believes in the District 7090 Mission which is "inspiring and supporting" all the clubs in District 7090 to be the best that they can be. Anne loves using different forms of communication - from video messages to webinars to conference calls.
She is currently the President of the Rotary Club of Hamilton AM and is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Hamilton.

Her family has hosted Rotary Youth Exchange students from Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Japan - to name a few.

Anne loves the international nature of Rotary and has participated in Rotary meetings in Argentina, Thailand, and most recently, St. Lucia, as well as helping to host VTTs from Guatemala.

Anne gave a wonderful presentation that I would not be doing justice by trying to transcribe everything.  Please watch her inspiring presentation below:
