President Michelle Jones called the meeting of 53 Rotarians and Guests to order in the Fellowship Hall of First Lutheran Church and Sue Jones gave the holiday invocation.
Michelle invited our dear former Rotarian Vicki McGraw to the front of the room and congratulated her on her impending retirement after 35 years of catering very special events for our community, presenting her with a lovely bouquet of red, white and blue Buffalo Bills-themed flowers.
Vicki and her mother Ginny Bremer served our luncheon of chicken and biscuits, salad and jello topped off with plates of Vicki’s wonderful cookies.
Michelle reminded everyone of the Club’s Annual Meeting at NOON at the Doubletree on Dec. 15 with a special prime rib dinner being served. The Doubletree has donated a special gift to be awarded to a lucky attendee so be sure to be there.
Don’t forget our Club Holiday Party at Sauce on December 16 at 6 PM. The cost is $20 for dinner, soft drinks and coffee and that cost is underwritten by the generosity of John Felton of the Southern Tier Federal Credit Union. Beer and wine are available at the attendee’s expense. Please bring a $20 gift to exchange suitable for either sex.
We adjourned to the sanctuary of the Church where we were treated to the holiday music of the Jamestown High School A’Cappella Choir, and their several ensembles under the direction of Lauren Scharf, accompanied at the organ by Director Emeritus Brian Bogey and at the piano by Julie Livengood.
The Processional was the familiar Kyrie and then we heard several familiar and new beautiful pieces by the entire choir and by separate ensembles.
The choir then recessed from the narthex in their beautiful red and white robes with crème sashes and lighted candles to the strains of beautiful hymn Silent Night.
A PERFECT WAY TO USHER IN THE SEASON!
